The Great North Run, Sunday 10th September 2017
The Great North Run, broadcast live on the BBC, sees thousands of runners take on the half marathon challenge every year. Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne the 13.1 mile course is lined with supporters all the way from the iconic Tyne Bridge, right out towards the coast in South Shields. Since 1981 the world's greatest half marathon has welcomed over one million people across the finish line in South Shields.
Please let us know if you are taking part this year for Lupus UK and we will support you all the way!!
James Miller (pic above), the Son of one of our members, Claire took part last year and ran for Lupus UK. He states....
"I want to thank everybody who made it possible for me to run this year's Great North Run for LUPUS UK, especially everyone who contributed to my final fundraising total of £1081.18. A surprisingly sunny day in Newcastle left me with sunburned shoulders, and the race left me with aching legs for a few days, but that didn't come close to eclipsing the satisfaction of my first ever half-marathon - and contributing to such a worthwhile cause. The first beer after a month of teetotal training wasn't too bad either!" .....James.
Well done James. We're pleased you not only survived but also completed the run in an amazing time...You're an inspiration!
